ADGA Performance Programs help dairy goat owners collect and use reliable information about milk production, conformation, pedigree and genetic merit.

Participation provides breeders with verified records that can support herd-management decisions, evaluate breeding progress and contribute to more accurate genetic evaluations across the dairy goat industry.

ADGA’s Performance Programs

Dairy Herd Improvement Registry (DHIR)

Record verified milk production, butterfat and protein data through an approved testing plan. DHIR records may also qualify animals for production awards, Top Ten recognition, and genetic evaluations.

Linear Appraisal

Evaluate individual structural and functional traits using ADGA’s standardized appraisal system. Results can help identify strengths, guide breeding decisions, and track progress across generations.

DNA Testing

Use official DNA profiles to support animal identification, parentage verification, and accurate pedigree records. DNA testing may also be required for certain registrations and reproductive technologies.

Genetic Evaluations

Use production, appraisal, and pedigree data to better understand an animal’s expected genetic contribution. Evaluations may include predicted transmitting abilities, indexes, reliability estimates, and designations such as Superior Genetics or Elite Buck and Doe recognition.
